I know hardly anything about this photograph, however, for reasons unknown I just like it. It is a woods crew of Fruit Growers Supply Company working from Camp Ten in 1932. Notice the two men on the far left with quart bottles of milk. Does anyone know how the milk was kept somewhat cool?
I agree with you,Tim-a great old scene. The milk?
I went to camp ten 1947 with my Aunt and Uncle ( Chock & Edna Holton. I don’t remember if the cabins had any electricity or not. but I do remember every cabin had a little screen wire box hanging on a north side window, covered with burlap where they kept their milk & other perishables. If the temperature got high in the after noon’s they could pour water on the burlap which would evaporate keeping things cool in side the box. The company also had supply trucks that come out from Susanville or Westwood often . I was almost 11 years old at the time. I call that the good old days.
