A Future Halloween Cemetery Tour?

The Thomas Newton Long family plot, September 16, 2017

For a decade, in the recesses of my mind, I have thought about doing a Halloween Cemetery Tour. After all, I have done a St. Patrick’s and Octoberfest tours. This one would be conducted at the Lassen Cemetery on Chestnut Street.

After all, there is quite a cast of characters buried there. For starters there is the grave of Isaac Coulthurst who died in 1919, and I believe was the first person interred there. Coulthurst was one of the earliest settlers in the Honey Lake Valley in 1857 and in that same year he married Mary Jane Duvall, the first marriage officiated in the valley. The following year he found the drowned body in the Susan River of the Frenchmen Harry Gordier, and there are people who still this day seek Gordier’s gold. Then there was Coulthurst court performances in 1879 and 1880 during his insanity hearings he claimed to be the Second Coming of Christ.

It is a thought, and I do not know if the interest there. So let me know. This endeavor involves a great deal of time  on my part to plot out logistics and research.
