Ask Tim

Cottage Street, Susanville, circa 1905-Betty B. Deal

On a quarterly basis, I ask you the reader, if there is something you would like to learn more about or maybe its something you heard, but question its validity. So here is an opportunity to participate. I will do my best to answer any questions. It should be noted, it may take awhile for the answer to appear as a post. The primary reason, many of the daily posts are done nearly a month in advance. So by the time you read this I am already working on posts for the middle of May, or at least I should be. Whatever the case may be, I look forward to hearing from you. Of course, it should be noted that paid subscribers requests receive priority. In addition, you can always send a request at any time.

  1. I have always wondered about the origin of the property that was subdivided to become Herlong Jct. The Mark and adjoining properties comprise a fair size and surviving community for Lessen County. I remember Zoe Clayberg Tucker as the community matriarch and supposed her family owned the land originally. Her house was located at a good spring, and looked very old in the 1950,s. I seem to remember her telling me that her mother was a McKesick. Wondering when and by who the subdivision was created,.

  2. I remember that you had posted that you usually don’t write much about the Indians as a rule to be sensitive, so I was wondering whether you could recommend any books or websites or anything about them
