A lot has happened since I initially began work on the history of the brands featured on the wall in the Pioneer. Of course, a lot of work became derailed when I broke my hip in August. During nearly the six weeks when I was a Nevada resident recuperating, I did have a lot of time for thinking.
With that thought in mind, I revisited the project. Nope, it is not cancelled. The way I had assembled a portion of it, it was not to my satisfaction. The perfectionist in me working overtime. Anyway, to make a long story short, I came up with a different layout and style, that I prefer over the original one.
After I returned home from my Nevada stay, I had a backlog of issues to contend with. By the end of November, not only had I made great strides with those issues, I had finished all the posts for December, and half for January. For many the holidays are a busy time, though it is actually a quiet time for me. My last obligation was a Lassen College Board meeting on December 8. As a result, I made tremendous progress on the history of the brands. With a little luck, I hope to have finished and to the printers by summer.
Tim, do you know who is in this photograph? Great one ! Did you
find the Worley Brand on the Pioneer wall? I have a ring with the brand.
Hope you’ve healed from your injury.
Nancy
Tim I just spoke to Wally Roney and he corrected me in saying that the ranch was once known as Roney Brothers. I thought I remembered him telling me of the mistake on the brand in the Pioneer. Because the Roney family have been ranching in Lassen County for so many generations, Wally being the 5th generation, it would be good to get the history from him.
‘Sweet are the uses of adversity…’ Well done Tim.
The C ranch brand out of Nevada is Mindy Surians husbands family. The longest working brand in Nevada. You could contact the Surians for more information.
Do you have any past pics of The Chic Inn???
