On a quarterly basis,  I ask you, the reader, if there is something you would like to learn more about or maybe its something you heard but question its validity.  So here is an opportunity to participate. I will do my best to answer any questions. It should be noted, it may take awhile for the answer to appear as a post. The primary reason, many of the daily posts are done nearly a month in advance. For instance, this item was composed on March 3, 2016.  So by the time you read this, I am already working on posts in the middle of June. Whatever the case may be, I look forward to hearing from you. Of course, it should be noted that paid subscribers requests receive priority. In addition, you can always send an request at any time.

The topics readers wanted to learn about are a wide range from the Susanville Coca Cola Plant to the Shinn Ranch. However, recently I have received a request about the Lone Pine Mine on Gold Run which ties in with the Wild Horse Mines of Smoke Creek. Also of note, mining on Diamond Mountain is one of the many topics to be discussed on the forthcoming Inspiration Point Tour.

  1. HI TIM,
IT WOULD BE GOOD TO SEE ANY HISTORY ON THE PAINTER’S FLAT AREA AND IT’S NAMING.
ANYTHING ON THE OLD MINING/GHOST TOWNS UP BY ANTELOPE LAKE AND TAYLOR LAKE.
HOW ANTELOPE LAKE CAME TO BE.
HOW AND WHEN THW FIRST LASSEN CO. FAIR STARTED.
JUST THROWIN’ SOME THINGS OUT THERE TO SEE WHAT WILL STICK.
THANK YOU TIM FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND FOR SHARING YOUR VAST KNOWLEDGE WITH ALL OF US.

  2. I would like to know more about The dairy that was where the ball park and city park is today. As a little kid in the late 30’s&early 40’s I can remember my parents going to a drive up window and picking up our milk supply. I also remember playing in the field where there was nothing but cows. The field where the park is now. I don’t think the ball park was built till after 1945.

  3. Tim, thanks so much for what you do. I would be interested to know more about some of the forts and camps set up during the 1860s. Cavalry soldiers were dispatched from the Presidio in San Francisco to man these garrisons during the pioneer days. Of course there was Fort Defiance in town. There was also a fort in Janesville. Little is mentioned about a garrison in Litchfield set up in 1860 to protect a bridge over the Susan River. This was known as Camp Dragoon Bridge and was there for about 3 years with about 30 guys. I’m sure that was a lonely outpost and was a difficult assignment for the guys. It would be very interesting to know more about who they were and what they endured. I am in Standish and have family in Litchfield and Wendel, so also knowing where the old building and bridge used to be would be interesting.
