Lake Almanor Story

Lake Alma book
The dust jacket

Today’s topic is just a little bit strange. First of all, I must confess when it comes to self promotion, I flunk in that department. My passion is research, preserving and writing the region’s rich and diverse heritage. Of course, it takes money to do it, so one option was book publishing. Of course, that medium is changing rapidly, and that is not where I am going today.

From time to time I check out Bookfinder.com. It specializes in out of print titles, but includes new ones as well. My book The Lake Almanor Story has been out of print for a few years, and there appears to be a small demand. Every now and then a used copy appeared in the $200 range. Then the price went up to the $500. Last December one sold for $1,003. Currently, Amazon has a listing for it, can you believe, a used copy for a whopping $7,781.01, shipping is included. Since this was composed the book is no longer listed, whether it sold for the asking price is not known.

So buyer be aware out there. After all, on my site you can still purchase Sagebrush Reflections: The history of Amedee and Honey Lake, for $12.00 and online its price range is from $23.75 to $313.92.

Subscribe and support this site for as little as $4.17 a month.

  1. So should we all buy your books and resell them for a nice profit? That is too funny! And I just bought Honey Lake and Amedee from Margie’s, I grew up in that country and it’s so wonderful to learn some of the history. I myself absolutely love local history, it’s so fun to go to what’s left of the places mentioned, it’s almost like meeting those tough souls. And, if I make a mint with it online, I’ll certainly take you to lunch!
