If you get in touch with Bonnie Daily i know she has pictures of our Grandfather loging the area with horses and such He was John Stewart he also brought alot of the train cars in from camp 10 and was used for homes in town this i know for sure as we hd one as a home !! Lived in Susanville in the late 1960’s. Left some snow angels in Memorial Park. Worked on Main St. Even lived on Main St before I left for the glamour of the “Big City”.

I know the owners of his home in Alhambra and they would love more information. If you could share I would greatly appreciate it
I was born in Susanville 1936, about 3 houses north of Potters Maternity Home. Was raised in Susanville. Ward Lake is about 12 miles east of Susanville. My dad took me fishing at Ward Lake about 1946 we caught a few Crappie, we fished there almost every year up until 1961 when I moved away. I remember it was a shallow lake. When camping there about 1951, waded all the way across and found the only place over our head was a small channel in the middle of the lake. The sad part was I went out to visit with a cousin who lived by Ward Lake about 2006 It was dry. I don’t think they ever intend to let it fill again. Robert L. Ramey
Thank you for your research Tim. My mom took my brother Chuck and I to Herlong when we were maybe 2-3 years old. That was around 1944/45. That was our “home”. We moved around, but always returned to Herlong. Are you part of the Herlong alumni? It includes Susanville, Milford, Janesville and Doyle to name a few. You’ll be welcomed I’m sure.
My father, Luther Burbank Logan was found shot to death in a train boxcar in Westwood in 1971. I am seeking information on the investigation of his murder. The investigation was handled by the Lassen County Sheriff’s dept. I don’t know if the Western Pacific Railroad was involved in the investigation. My great, great grandfather was Daniel Sill . I know that he has a history with Peter Lassen. If you have any information in him, I would love to know.
I was born in Susanville and moved away in the early 1960’s. I am trying to access an obituary for my Grand Father who rests in peace in a Susanville grave yard. I love to study the History of Lassen County and Susanville.
I’m so excited to be in the loop with the past History of our area. Moved up to Janesville in 1972 and have been here ever since. Both of my children were born here and I am now retired and still have my roots planted pretty deep.

I am looking into history of widow valley near lookout, ca. My relatives purchased timber claims in early 1890’s and sold them to red river lumber in 1900. Do you have history connects for Modoc county timber sales. I am writing a short history of the Wendt family during period 1885 – 1940. They owned parts of widow valley twice and raised a family there.
Would you have any photos or information on the construction of Johnstonville Dam? We think it was built in about 1884 and Leavitt Lake was started in about 1875.

I have some pictures of the Richmond School house as it changed over the years. My family lived in it in the 1980s-1990s.
